Building Kites, Flying Them

...and discovering a few new ones along the way! Of all your kites,
which is your best one? You do have more than one don't you, for
different wind speeds? That's a great idea, since the weather's never
the same from day to day.

Adelaide Kite Festival

There are 2 sides to this site....

Firstly, roll your sleeves up and enjoy learning to make a kite and fly
it. Anyone can afford dowels or bamboo skewers, some plastic bags and
sticky tape. Don't laugh - wait until you see the growing collection of
classic designs that we have made and flown!

There's a design here for just about anybody, from young kids through
to experienced fliers who enjoy a building challenge. See a number of
them, in light orange, all the way down the right hand side of this
page!

Secondly, it has a large body of useful information, facts and photos.
Find out about the most popular kinds of fabric and paper designs being
flown these days. Discover things you never knew.

Plus there is some info that is just plain different, and intriguing.
Like the radio-controlled variety being flown indoors in Singapore, or
a flexible one the size of a football field... But we'll get to that
later.

Follow our progress from time to time as we occasionally write up an
outing as a Flying Report. Visitors to this site also contribute
reports from time to time. All these become new pages.

By clicking the what's new? link over there on the left, near the top,
you can stay up-to-date with the latest additions to this site.
Including those flying reports!

We do this all in the city of Adelaide, South Australia, home to one of
the bigger annual kiting festivals in Australia, and possibly the whole
Southern Hemisphere. We'll be keeping tabs on that festival, don't you
worry. :-)

So join us in this fun and most economical of outdoor sports!

Actually, the gear for pulling you along in the surf, or even a land
buggy of some sort isn't so cheap, but we'll get to that later, too. If
you're into that sort of high-speed wind sport kind of stuff, you'll
find plenty of interesting info here as well.
________________________________________________________

Although not strenuous most of the time, kiting is quite a healthy
activity!

The benefits of kite-flying...

1. Office workers can get some much-needed Vitamin D from sunlight.
2. It's good exercise for your eyes, focussing near and far all the
time. Helps slow down the progression of 'old age sight'.
3. Breathe that fresh air!
4. Even fit in a bit of moderate exercise sometimes, when towing up to
search for faster air!
5. Getting the kids involved too is good quality family time.

Here's our current favorite visitor-contributed kite picture...

Colorful Nylon Kite Tails

How's that for a riot of color! Can you contribute anything even more
spectacular and colorful? Or perhaps you have an image that grabs
attention for some other reason. A beautiful sunset shot at a kite
festival, for example...

Find other ZORGIUM pages using AZ.COM:

Enter your search keyword(s) into the search input field of http://az.com
The zorgium specific results appear in the right hand margin.

Find other ZORGIUM pages using your favorite search engine:

Enter your search keyword(s) and the keyword "zorgium" into the search input field of http://bing.com, http://yahoo.com or http://google.com.

Heads up: There's an ongoing spamdexing of Google searchbot algorithms. Sites that are 'copies of copies' and cloaked sites which include Zorgium keywords presented to search engine crawlers yet garbage content presented to human visitors were hosted on thousands of IP addresses and domains registered immediately after the introduction of Zorgium in November of 2009. The Hostgator/'The Planet'/Softlayer datacenters in Texas seem to be the epicenter of this activity in conjunction with anonymously registered domains of various TLD's but primarily .info domains at Godaddy which, in our opinion, has some sort of connection to the domains of goldmint.in and goldmint.org. Google has begun to notice this and has begun to lower the ranking of these sites and put our original sites back on top of the search rankings. These actions, as far as we can tell, negatively impact the use of the keyword 'zorgium' as a search term and provided little benefit, if any, to the perpetrators.

ZORGIUM note to content providers: If you don't want your page to appear in Zorgium's search abstraction then put an exclusion for "Zorgium" in your web server's robots.txt file.

DISCLAIMER: Zorgium is a free world-wide-web engine from AZ.COM. You may use it, but by doing so you agree that your use of other people's information discovered via our website is entirely your responsibility. Enjoy!
